Succession Certificate is the one issued by the Court of Law listing out the lawful successors of the deceased person who died intestate, leaving his debts, assets and securities behind. A person is termed to be died intestate, when he dies without executing any legal will, registered or unregistered. This succession certificate helps to transfer both the debts and securities to the legal heirs of the deceased and the said legal heirs are liable to such payment.
Both the Legal Heir Certificate and the Succession Certificate might sound alike, but there are differences in it. If any discrepancies arise in the field enquiry conducted by the Government officer, in the procedure of the legal heir certificate, he will direct the legal heirs to file a petition before the Jurisdictional Court of law to obtain a Succession Certificate.
